In Search of Rest

I recently polled my Instagram followers to ask which word was more appealing: Rest or Upgrade?

Rest won ... by a lot.

My hunch is that our need for Rest runs deeper than what a night of good sleep can solve. Simply hearing the word and noticing what it feels like in your body says a lot about the relief we seek.

Stress is insidious. It sneaks in and takes over sometimes without a clear cause or our conscious awareness.

Stress can be caused by anything from trauma to unpredictability to relational triggers. For some, it could be as simple as traffic or excessive noise. Work stress is also substantial.

Energy work is crucial to combatting stress and its effects. We do this in the form of energetic Rest.

I call this "true Rest"—not to be confused with sleep, numbing, or self-isolating.

Rest is a reset. It's a pause. It's the return to a still point—space to breathe and be present with what is.

Rest is 100% energetic. Relief your body can feel.

From the mother of four without a minute to spare to the professional go-getter working 60 hours a week to the average Joe (or Jill) without motivation to get off the couch—all need Rest.

Rest is the great balancer. When we know how to access Rest, it balances out all of the striving, achieving, and performing.

True Rest is accessible without a sacrifice of time or added discipline. (Meaning, your busy schedule is not a good excuse for avoiding Rest.)

We need Rest, so that we can feel like ourselves ... everyday. This is the antithesis to a state of stress.
